An old case from private investigator Owen McKenna’s SFPD days surfaces during a reunion of medical doctors in the Lake Tahoe area where McKenna is now living with his trusty dog, Spot. As McKenna dodges bullets, he is drawn into a murder involving the doctors, as well as a search for a mysteriously silent biplane. As old cases and new cases collide, the reader is able to catch their breath only when learning about biplanes, smuggling, the topography of the Tahoe Basin, hemophilia, autopsies, and how to make pizza in a camper without an oven.
